Beautiful Deep by Jordyn White (Beautiful Rivers #4)

Beautiful Deep (Beautiful Rivers Book 4) by [White, Jordyn]4.5 Stars

It feels like it’s been forever since I was able to dive into a Beautiful Rivers book, and it made me so. incredibly. happy to finally have a new one in my hands. First of all, I need to note that Jordyn White is the author formerly known as J.L. White. The name change is such a good thing, and definitely fits her book “vibe” better.

Moving on to the book, the instant attraction Rayce feels towards Emma is perfection. It’s even better when that attraction turns into a bit of a “forbidden” romance when he finds out that she is actually an employee of the resort. Emma is trying not the make the same mistake twice, but Rayce is undeniable.

I’m a little sad that this was the last book in this series. I’ve grown to love this family and this final glimpse into their lives didn’t feel like nearly enough. Each of these books is a complete standalone, so you could start with Beautiful Deep if you wanted to… but if you start at the beginning with Beautiful Mine, then your patience will be rewarded with a well-rounded series. I for one, can’t wait to to see what Jordyn White writes next.

Beautiful Dark by J.L. White (Beautiful Rivers #3)

5 Stars

I finished Beautiful Fall last night, and immediately dove into Beautiful Dark. I absolutely needed to know who Mason Reeves was before I went to bed, and lucky for me you find out pretty early on what his mystery is. Cliffhanger resolved, I was able to get some sleep.

This was my favorite installment of the series thus far. Once I opened it back up today, I binge-read the rest of the book in one sitting. IT. WAS. GOOD. I’ve always had a soft spot for Corrine and this book just solidified why I love her. Her battle with cancer seems to be over, but it still has a  terrible hold on her mental health. Mason is big, masculine, and protective. He’s just what Corrine needs and watching their relationship evolve kept the biggest grin on my face.

Now just starts the wait for Rayce’s book.

Beautiful Fall by J.L. White (Beautiful Rivers #2)

5 Stars

J.L. White’s writing is like comfort food for me. Whenever I pick up one of her books I know I’m going to get a good romance with lots of steam. Beautiful Fall was no exception.

This is the second book in the Beautiful Rivers series and I have a feeling I’m going to love this series just as much as I loved her original Firework Girls books. The more I’m drawn into the Rivers family, the more I want to hear about them. I love the relationship they have, and it makes my heart happy to read about them. Brett and Lizzy are perfect together. Their relationship feels like it’s coming from a genuine place. You don’t wonder why they are together, you KNOW why they are together. And can we swoon for a minute over how sweet Brett is with his son. Dads that are great with their kids make me happy.

This book does end with a perfect happily ever after. I was all smiles and happy tears at the end. Nothing better. While the romance does have a happy ending, there is a subplot that is left as a cliffhanger. No worries though, because the next book comes out tomorrow. I’ll definitely be reading it.

You don’t have to read Beautiful Mine to read this book, but I would definitely recommend it. Each book helps build on the dynamics between the characters, and some subplots would be better understood because of this. You can read my original review of Beautiful Mine here.

Eternal Heat by J.L. White (Firework Girls #3)

4.5 Stars!

Confession Time! I’ve had this book in my possession for a couple of months now and have been hoarding it for a pick-me-up. That time is now. 3 of the last 4 books I read have been “meh” at best and I needed something that I KNEW would be good. Once again, J.L. White did not let me down.

As far as “The Firework Girls” go, Ashley was the story I was least looking forward to. Her appearances throughout the series haven’t really piqued my interest other than her insane musical talent. I was in for a good surprise when I got to her story and realized there was a lot of depth and heartache within her. Her characterization within the books made sense and I came away feeling like I finally knew her. My favorite of this series is still Midnight Heat. You can read my review here. This is a series of standalones so you can read them out of order, but each girl does make an appearance in each book so there might be very minor spoilers. The last book in The Firework Girls series is Nuclear Heat and it is the one I have been waiting for. I’m expecting it to be the best of the series and hope it doesn’t disappoint.

All of The Firework Girls books are available on Kindle Unlimited!

THE BLURB FOR MIDNIGHT HEAT

They call us the Firework Girls.

I’m Chloe. It’s bad enough to be practically left at the altar, even worse to rebound with the right guy at the wrong time. And timing is the only thing that’s wrong with Grayson, the heart-stopping, blue-eyed master of my body and soul for one perfect night.

But it was too much too soon, so I ran… left without a word. Stupid, I know.

And yes, I’ve been regretting it. Every day. For months.

Then he storms back into my life, but this time, he’s not alone.

Let me just say, there’s only one word for seeing my soul mate hook up with one of my best friends:

Hell.

Firework Girls Series Reading Order:

Each book in the Firework Girls series STANDS ALONE with no cliffhangers, but here’s the chronology if you want to read them in order. Which you totally should.

Forbidden Heat (Isabella and Shane)
Midnight Heat (Chloe and Grayson)
Eternal Heat (Ashley and Erik)
Nuclear Heat (Sam and Jack)

Midnight Heat can definitely be read on its own, but if you want to read the 1st book to start with you can also get it for $.99 right now. I don’t know how long it is on sale, but Amazon changes its prices frequently so double check before you buy. I honestly didn’t love Forbidden Heat as much as Midnight Heat (different couples for each book) but I know a lot of us are obsessive about making sure we read a series in order.

Beautiful Mine by J.L. White Release Day!

THE BLURB

When fellow Californians Whitney Spencer and Connor Rivers meet in the most unlikely of places—on the Camino pilgrimage in Spain—they fall head first into a brief, impassioned love affair. But Whitney’s on her way back to her career in San Francisco, and Connor is a world traveler whose restless spirit has yet to be captured by anyone.

Tragedy strikes and Connor is called home to help his siblings run the family business, the Rivers Paradise Resort. Yet the adventurer inside him hasn’t gone away; in fact, his wanderlust is on the verge of destroying his family’s fragile stability.

When Whitney’s career brings her to Connor’s resort, the sparks between them flare. Will her reappearance be enough to tame him? Can their love be enough, or are they destined for another gut-wrenching goodbye?

Author’s note: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

J.L. White is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I’ve just started reading her books this year, and am becoming more and more of a fan with each one. Beautiful Mine is the first book in her new Beautiful Rivers series. You can read my original review here.

Beautiful Mine by J.L. White (Beautiful Rivers Series)

5 Stars

I’m going to come right out and say it. I wasn’t expecting to love this book. The blurb didn’t capture my interest, and if it hadn’t been J.L. White, I would have passed over it. J.L. White is a new discovery for me, and I’ve been slowly working my way through her Firework Girls books. I’ve enjoyed those books so much, and have been savoring them. They are a treat I get to read when I’ve read a couple of bad books and need some relief. Or when I’m ahead on my deadlines. But I know going in that I’m going to get a great, steamy romance. I shouldn’t have had any doubts about this one. I LOVED this book!

Whitney meets Connor while on a pilgrimage across Spain. Whitney’s journey isn’t about religion, it’s about soul searching. She has dedicated her life to her job at a charitable organization that helps child refugees, but her life is unbalanced and she needs to take a step back.

Connor suffers from Wanderlust and travels the world seeking people and experiences. He lives on his boat and sails wherever his heart desires. He changes locations on a whim, sometimes staying only a few days… other times a few months. When he meets Whitney on the Camino del Santiago the attraction is instant and intense. They begin a brief, passionate love affair that leaves a mark on both of their hearts. At the end, they say their goodbyes and go their separate ways.

Many months later, they run across each other at Connor’s family resort. It’s like they were never separated and instantly pick back up where they left off. But the underlying problems are still there. Connor desires to travel the world and be able to change locations at a moments notice and Whitney can’t imagine not having a home base.

And if he did decide to leave, who says he would want me along? Can you still be the wind when you’ve got someone tied to your side?

Because when I’m really honest with myself, I’m afraid he’s still the wind, and I’m over here completely delusional about my ability to capture him.

 I. Couldn’t. Stop. Reading. I started it this morning, intending to only read for half an hour or so…. then the book was over and I was in love. These are the type of characters I read for. These are the type of relationships I crave seeing on a page. The romance was steamy. The sex scenes didn’t feel repetitive, and I genuinely cared about what happened to everyone involved. I can’t wait for the next book.

Definitely an 18+ book.

Beautiful Mine is releasing August 30, 2016.
