Sassy Little Thing by Bella Jewel (Iron Fury MC #4) Review

Sassy Little Thing (Iron Fury MC Book 4) by [Jewel, Bella ]5 Stars

I’ve been in a bookish funk for almost 2 months and while I’ve been listening to audiobooks and making half-hearted attempts at picking up my kindle it wasn’t until recently that I started to see the sparkle of books again. And while this isn’t the book that brought me out of that funk, IT IS one of the little sparklers I’ve read since then.

Sassy Little Thing is the 4th book in the Iron Fury MC series by Bella Jewel. I’ve only read one other book by Bella Jewel, and it wasn’t one of the Iron Fury books, but it was enough to make me want to jump into this series right in the middle. This is a series of standalones, and they feel like standalones. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on something because I hadn’t read the other books. I DID want to go and read the other books in the series.

Saskia is everything the title promised and Mason is one incredibly ALPHA biker. The storyline was unbelievable but still enjoyable for those of us that don’t care about how likely something is to really happen. I definitely enjoyed my time with these characters and I think I’ll try to make time to read about the rest of the Iron Fury MC.

I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

People, in my opinion, don’t take happiness seriously
enough.
They go through life, constantly trying to please other
people.
I do, however, take my happiness seriously.
Very seriously.
But, when things in my life, go suddenly south, I am left
with more than one choice.
Do what’s right, or do what’s wrong?
That, on any normal day, would be an easy choice for me.
I’ll do whatever I need to keep my life flowing with
happiness.
But when it comes to love, everything changes.
And him.
I love him.
Which means I have to correct my wrong doings.
I need him to forgive me.
I need money.
It’s the only way.
When a job for a live-in maid comes up, with excellent pay,
I jump at the chance.
When I realize it’s for the member of a Motorcycle Club, I
still don’t back down.
Even if it means I have to live with and work for, one of
the hottest, broodiest and most difficult men I’ve ever met.
I’ll do whatever it takes.
Only, I don’t expect to actually like him.
The mysterious biker.
The one who I seem drawn to.
And now I have a real problem.
Do what’s right, or let my heart take me where it wishes?
Two men. Once choice.
Things are about to get very, very complicated.

Hothead by Stella Rhys (Irresistible #4)

Hothead (Irresistible Book 4) by [Rhys, Stella]4 Stars

It was hot.

After having read 2 of Stelly Rhys’ books previously, I went into this one without even reading the blurb. It took me quite awhile to realize that this was #4 in the Irresistible series. Something I’ve noticed is that you definitely don’t have to read the other books in this series to be able to become thoroughly invested in it. There is no overlying arc that ties everything together. These are couples that are loosely connected so you can jump in anywhere and still have a great read.

Fake fiancé. YES! I absolutely love a marriage/relationship of convenience, and this one was fire! Even better that they had a bit of a love/hate thing going on at the beginning. I loved the banter, they were hot together and I was ecstatic that Evie was getting her romance after seeing how badly she was treated by her long-time boyfriend in the last book, Dirty Deeds.

I received an advance reader copy of this book that I have chosen to review.

He’s the hottest
player in Major League Baseball, the most notorious playboy in all of
Manhattan…
And my fake fiancé
for the next three months.
I was drunk-dialing my ex the night I met him.
Six-three, sexy as sin and so incredibly rude I could smack the asshole
smirk right off his face. Long story short, we got off to a bad start. But when
the tabloids interpret our sparring as Drew Maddox “groveling
with a “mystery brunette,” his agent presents us both a
proposal:
Shacking up as a couple this summer.
It’s an alleged “win-win.” I need to prove to my ex that I’m fine. Drew
needs to prove to his team that he’s stable. Thanks to his on-field brawling
and never-ending lady drama, Drew Maddox has suddenly found himself on the
trade block – which means he needs a fast, easy way to show the team that he’s
settled down.
Hence this fiancé thing.
Our fights are real, our kisses are fake, and thanks to the nonstop
heat between us, I’m starting to mix up all my signs. But whether it’s real or
fake, there’s one thing I do know:
I’m already addicted.

Author Bio
Stella Rhys is an author of contemporary romance and can’t
help but write it hot, steamy and borderline filthy (just kidding, it’s just
flat-out filthy). Writing aside, she lives for coffee, the Knicks, the Yankees
and cooking recipes way out of her league. She was born and raised in New York
and now lives there with her husband and charmingly entitled fur babies.

Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan (Hoops #1)

Long Shot: A HOOPS Novel by [Ryan, Kennedy]5 Stars

If I had to pick a favorite romance from last year, my pick would undoubtedly be Grip. If fact, I loved it so much that it was one of my write-in votes for the Goodreads Choice Awards. That being said, while I wanted to read Long Shot, I wasn’t sure about it. I haven’t watched basketball since I was in elementary school (in the 90’s) so my knowledge of the sport is rusty at best.

I should have known better, the sport didn’t matter. This book grabbed me from the first chapter and I only stopped reading so I could get a few hours of sleep. I was unprepared for the breadth of emotions this book carried with it. I don’t have “triggers” when reading, but for those that do, this should carry a trigger warning on it. It deals with very serious domestic abuse including physical, emotional, and sexual aspects. I didn’t expect to feel the emotions of Iris so acutely. I felt desperation, panic, hopelessness. But then there was determination, hope, and butterflies… even healing.

The Grip series were the first books that I read from Kennedy Ryan, and I thought those were some of the most timely important books I’ve ever read from the romance genre. I didn’t realize what I was getting into when I started Long Shot, but as painful as it was, I deeply valued the experience. This book helped me realize that Kennedy Ryan isn’t just a general romance writer, but a writer with a social message. She writes words that matter and gives perspective on subjects that are often skirted around in public. She has a gift with words, and I am grateful she chooses to share them.

Menace by Laramie Briscoe (Moonshine Task Force #5)

Menace (Moonshine Task Force Book 5) by [Briscoe, Laramie]4 Stars

These Moonshine Task Force books just keep on getting better and better. Mason and Caleb have been a dynamic duo throughout the series and I’ve loved watching how their relationship has grown and changed over the years. Mason has put his all into being the best single father to a teenage son that one could hope for. Their relationship is close and honest, but now that Caleb is ready to leave the house Mason is ready to jump into the dating scene.

Once they really started dating, I loved how seamlessly Karina melded into life with Mason and Caleb. She already cared about Caleb as a student, but once she started dating Mason she was easily accepted and then integrated into their life without annoying drama.

Menace is what I thought would be the last book in the series, so I was absolutely tickled when I found out that Caleb will be getting his own book, Cruise. I can’t wait for May to get here!

Mason “Menace”
Harrison
“Single and ready to mingle……”

Those are the words above every picture of almost every female that strikes my
interest on this dating app my son talked me into getting. After being a single
dad for seventeen years, I’m ready to spread my wings, just not with most of
the co-eds who keep hitting on me and calling me daddy.

Now that Caleb’s in his Senior year of high school, I feel like I can let go of
the iron-clad control I’ve had on myself without his Mom in our lives. I’ve
enjoyed raising him, love the relationship we have, and while he went off the
rails for a bit last year, we’re closer than we’ve ever been. He’s got a full
ride to the University of Alabama, and I’ve settled into my spot with the
Moonshine Task Force.

But my son doesn’t warm my bed, he isn’t someone I can share my dreams with,
and he’s not the person I want to grow old with by my side. I’m not sure who
that is yet, but the smokin’ hot lady going by the name BeachBum83 definitely
has every single bit of my interest.

Karina Holland

“Looking for a good time, maybe more…..”

Those were the lamest words I ever typed in my life, but it was the best I had
for the dating app my friend, Violet talked me into joining. I didn’t have any
high hopes for myself. As a High School English teacher, I’m sick of pervy
Dad’s hitting on me when they come in to discuss their child’s lack of
motivation to read the classics and apply themselves.

Until the day Mason Harrison walks into my classroom. I had no idea Caleb’s Dad
was the man I met off that dating app who showed me how flexible I really am in
the back of his Jeep. Within minutes of the parent/teacher conference he proved
the sparks weren’t one-time only when we christened my desk.

Mason and Caleb? They touch a part of my heart that no one’s ever touched
before, and when a threat from the past shows up, I prove just how tough I
really am.

Out of the Darkness by Heather Graham (The Finnegan Connection #3)

Out of the Darkness (The Finnegan Connection #3)4 Stars

Out of the Darkness was my first Finnegan Connection book AND my first Heather Graham. As far as it being the first book I’ve read in the series, I didn’t feel like I missed anything, which is always a great feeling. I also liked Heather Graham’s writing, so that was a definite plus.

The basis of this story is creepy, so when I started reading it that first night I immediately put it back down and picked up something fluffier. Once I got into the story though, I was much more comfortable with it and enjoyed the plot quite a bit. My only complaint would be that the last plot twist felt too forced and ended up annoying me more that enhancing the story. Other than that minor hiccup, I read this pretty quickly. I liked the main characters and wished that we could have seen more of Davey. I was impressed by my first reading of Heather Graham and if I see another book by her I won’t hesitate to pick it up.

Get OUT OF THE DARKNESS Here – (Kindle)

Instead of recapping the story, I’ve included “The Blurb” below.
