The Delphi Resistance by Rysa Walker (The Delphi Trilogy #2)

4.5 Stars

The Delphi Resistance is one of those books that I feel like I’ve been waiting on forever. I read The Delphi Effect last year, and absolutely loved it. I even went so far as to stalk the series on Amazon until the next book was available for me to preorder.

The Delphi Resistance begins not very long after the last book left off. I think it would have been helpful if this book included a little summary/reminder of what happened because I had to go back and read the last chapter of The Delphi Effect to refresh my memory. Once I was reminded though, this book kept me up finishing it. It was one of those “just one more chapter” nights until finally I just had to finish the book regardless of the fact that it was 1AM.

This isn’t one of those series where you can just jump in with book 2 and start reading. You really have to start with the first book to get the full story, but it’s worth it. I would recommend this for anyone that loves a good paranormal fantasy.

If you have an Amazon Prime membership The Delphi Effect is currently available to read and listen to for free. Otherwise both books are Free on Kindle Unlimited (as of 10/27/17).

Seven Days of Us by Francesca Hornak

 3.5 Stars

I often pick up books because I read an excerpt from them in a Buzz Books sampler. This is one of those. I never would have picked this book up if it weren’t for that little glimpse into its contents.

I mostly enjoyed this book, that’s why it got a positive rating.  I wanted to know how things were going to work out the entire way through and I was interested in these people’s lives. The ending was not my favorite, though I think its common enough in this genre. I think that’s why I don’t read this genre very often is that I don’t enjoy an open ending. I prefer the neatly wrapped up happily ever after ending that I get in romances.

That being said, I really enjoyed the idea of everyone in the family having secrets and how they all got revealed in the end. All of the secrets were difficult in their own way and each person struggled with what they should do. And I loved that every secret was entwined with Jesse in one way or another.

Dirty Rich One Night Stand by Lisa Renee Jones

5 Stars

This book is HOT! I absolutely loved the banter between Cat and Reese, especially pretty much every scene with them at the coffee shop. I just love a smart, successful, confident man and Reese is 100% all of those things. Cat is pretty much perfect as well. She’s an Ivy League educated lawyer that turned her back on practicing law to do what she really loves, and she does it well.

I really enjoyed the storyline and the publishing deal angle was an interesting part of the plot that I haven’t seen used before. Dirty Rich One Night Stand is a great combination of romance, chemistry, and mystery. This couple did remind me of Shane and Emily (IDK if it was the hot lawyer thing or what) so if you love the Dirty Money books then you should love this one too.

Part of the Sky by J.W. Lynne (Above the Sky #3)

5 MILLION STARS!!!!!

The Sky Trilogy has become my new all-time favorite trilogy and I sit here now after just finishing it with a mixture of that perfect book bliss + sadness that this story is over. I put off reading it for as long as I could, and even convinced myself that there was no way that this finale was going to live up to my expectations. I prepared myself for this book to go the way of Allegiant and instantly make me hate the entire trilogy. I was unprepared for this book to be everything I wanted it to be.

Part of the Sky starts exactly where Return to the Sky left off. Even though it’s been about 2 months since I read the last book, it was really easy to pick back up. This book has it all. Clandestine meetings, secret plans, rebellion, plot twists — everything. It has both heart-stopping and jaw-dropping moments. And when I say heart-stopping,  I mean it. At about the 50% mark I had to put the book down and go to bed. I just couldn’t take any more without spending some time processing it. If I could force this trilogy into the hands of every fan of the genre then I would. It deserves all the readers…and the praise too.

You need to read these books.

You can pick the whole trilogy up in one book.

Harry Potter – The Unofficial Guide to the Collectibles of Our Favorite Wizard by Eric Bradley

 4 Stars

I consider myself a Harry Potter fan, and in fact gradually converted my muggle of a husband into a closeted Slytherin (not my first choice, but at least he’s sorted now).

As much of a fan as I am, I don’t really have much in the way of Harry Pottery. According to this book Harry Pottery is the term for all things that are collected by fans of Harry Potter. I have a wand and some metal house bookmarks, but this book made me realize what a wide variety of items there are out there. And I pretty much want them all. Except the posters. Someone else can collect those. But seriously if someone can give me The Monster Book of Monsters for Christmas I would be greatly appreciative.

This book was really informative and opened my eyes up to all the different things that could be collected, even though the chapter on posters bored me some, I was interested to know that some of the bigger movie posters are fairly cheap because it costs so much to frame them. I hadn’t thought of that before, and I would probably be someone that would buy a huge poster without giving thought to the cost of framing (and then never get it framed due to the cost). I still might do it… but at least I’m informed now. My favorite pieces throughout the book were actually the one of a kind items. The work that went into most of those pieces is incredible but its also inspiring to know that Harry Potter fans can use their talents and their love of the fandom to create valuable art. I’m a collector by nature, and while Harry Pottery wasn’t one of my collections this book has made me want to get started.

Loving Storm by Carian Cole

4 Stars

Loving Storm was a great followup to Storm. It read like an extended epilogue (though the novella also includes an actual epilogue). Any problems that came up within the book were quickly squashed. Really this is just a lovely look at Storm & Evie’s life together. You definitely need to read Storm before diving into this one. I don’t think you will enjoy this one if you haven’t, but if you have read Storm and you loved these characters then you should definitely give this one a go.

Evie
I met him in a snow storm…
We spent forty-eight hours trapped in the back of his pickup truck.
We fought.
We touched.
We fell.
Hard.

Storm
She literally crashed into my life…
The last thing I wanted was a relationship. Especially with a quirky chick who drove me insane. But something about her got under my skin, and into my heart.
And I had to have her.
All of her.
Now.

Falling in love in the back of a truck, just the two of us, was easy.
Dealing with psycho fans, jealous exes, and demons from the past….not so easy.

About the Author:

I have a passion for the bad boys, those covered in tattoos, sexy smirks, ripped jeans, fast cars, motorcycles and of course, the sweet girls that try to tame them and win their hearts.

My first novel in the best-selling Ashes & Embers series, Storm, published in September of 2014. I have many books and sequels slated for this series. My new spin-off series, Devils Wolves, launched in 2016 with the best-selling novel, Torn. There are several books planned for this series as well.

Born and raised a Jersey girl, I now reside in beautiful New Hampshire with my husband and our multitude of furry pets and spend most of my time writing, reading, and vacuuming.

Unloved by Katy Regnery

 5 Stars!

Unloved is without a doubt the best book that I have ever read by Katy Regnery. This book captured me from page one and the tears started pretty immediately as well. Being Katy Regnery I expected a HEA but I had no idea how she was going to accomplish it. It seemed a nearly impossible task so I just held on for the ride.

This book has so many absolutely heartbreaking scenes that it makes their love so much sweeter. Cassidy is perfect but believes he is dangerous to society. Brynn is trapped in her past and retreated from the world. They are both so isolated and while Cassidy believes his isolation is necessary, Brynn’s isolation is more an expression of how she grieves. She is still mourning the fiancee she lost in a tragic way 2 years ago. Cassidy and Brynn are broken in their own ways, but obviously perfect for each other.

The sins of the father. The burden of the son.

My name is Cassidy Porter…

My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.

Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware – every day of my life – that I am his child, his only son.

To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.

I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.

It’s a promise I would have kept…if Brynn Cadogan hadn’t stumbled into my life.

Now I exist between heaven and hell: falling for a woman who wants to love me, while all along reminding myself that I must remain…

Unloved.
