WHAT I THOUGHT

Meeting The Unpredictable is the 2nd book I’ve read from Riann C. Miller, and it won’t be the last. I’m really enjoying her writing style and can’t wait to read more. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the secrets were in this book, but I was wrong every time. The plot twists definitely made me say “WOW”. You can read my original review here.

Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti (Blood Brothers #1)

5 STARS!

Deadly Silence is the 1st book in Rebecca Zanetti’s new spin-off series Blood Brothers. To be clear, this series stand on its own two feet. If you haven’t read her Sin Brothers series yet, no worries. I realized while reading this that I haven’t yet finished that series, so I will be going back shortly and finishing them up. It did not affect my enjoyment at all, but at the end there is a cameo starring the Sin Brothers that I think would be squee-worthy if I had finished their books. Ooops. I’ll be going back now and doing that.

I absolutely adore Rebecca Zanetti’s work and this was no exception. If you love Alpha males, you’ve come to the right place. She is a master at this character type and I can’t get enough. Deadly Silence is definitely steamy and has more than a few twists thrown in. This was a quick read for me, mostly,  because I couldn’t put the book down. So finally at 2AM, after about 5 “just one more chapters”, there were only about 30 minutes left in the book. So I gave up on going to bed at a “decent hour” and just read. And it was good.

I will definitely be continuing this series and I will probably have to buy the physical book too, because according to Amazon…

**THE PRINT EDITION CONTAINS EXTRA BONUS SCENES NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE!

So there’s that.

Deadly Silence is releasing October 4th, 2016.

Chasing Truth by Julie Cross RELEASE DAY!

THE BLURB

“An enjoyably twisty, romantic, and thoughtful prep-school mystery.” –Kirkus Reviews

At Holden Prep, the rich and powerful rule the school―and they’ll do just about anything to keep their dirty little secrets hidden.

When former con artist Eleanor Ames’ homecoming date commits suicide, she’s positive there’s something more going on. The more questions she asks, though, the more she crosses paths with Miles Beckett. He’s sexy, mysterious, arrogant…and he’s asking all the same questions.

Eleanor might not trust him―she doesn’t even like him―but they can’t keep their hands off of each other. Fighting the infuriating attraction is almost as hard as ignoring the fact that Miles isn’t telling her the truth…and that there’s a good chance he thinks she’s the killer.

WHAT I THOUGHT

Chasing Truth is the first book in Julie Cross’ new Eleanor Ames series. This book kept me up at night because I kept needing to read “just one more chapter”. The mystery was engrossing and it kept me guessing until the very end. You can read my original review here.

The moment their eyes meet, Willow no longer feels invisible. Drawn to the vulnerability behind Ashton’s mask of rage, she sinks deeper into his sinister world and begins to question whether he’s a villain, a savior, or both.

Ashton thought he wanted vengeance, until Willow reminded him what he’d been missing. Now he longs to clear his name and become the person she sees in him. But the closer they get to uncovering the truth, the darker the secrets become, and Ashton fears his return to Gilt Hollow will destroy everyone he loves, especially the girl he left behind.

When I wanted to branch out into new genres Gilt Hollow was the perfect solution. Its a YA romantic suspense novel, and I couldn’t get enough of it. The atmosphere was perfect and reminded me of what had been lacking in some of my current reads. You can read my original review here.

THE BLURB

Sometimes the simplest choice has the power to change your life.

Chase

Ten years ago, I turned a hard decision into a simple one. I allowed others to decide my future . . . then I lost the best thing that ever happened to me. I let go of the girl I loved in exchange for a life I was told I wanted.

Then one day I woke up with no recollection of my reality and instead I believed my life had turned out how I had once dared to imagine. Now everyone is waiting for me to remember the day I ruined my future as I struggle to recall a life without the person I so carelessly tossed away.

Somehow, I was gifted a second chance with the woman I love, and I’m going to fight like hell to keep her.

Jordan

Your brain has a funny way of convincing you what is real and what is not; even if your heart never lets you forget the truth. After Chase Adams broke my heart, my life moved forward, even though the light I once felt had extinguished. Then I received an unexpected phone call that changed everything.

Every day we make choices, but most of the time they don’t affect the rest of our lives. I wanted to love again. I wanted to trust the gift I was given, but every choice has consequences. Now I have to decide to let go of the past for the sake of my future. . . or risk living with regret.

$1.99 BOOK Sale! Charlie N. Holmberg & Rebecca Zanetti

Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet was a surprising 5 star read for me this year. It’s a departure from my usual fare, and I honestly picked it up because the cover is so gorgeous. It is no secret that I absolutely adore pretty much everything Rebecca Zanetti writes. She writes extremely ALPHA males and I love them. I read Forgotten Sins and Fated in my pre-blogging days, so I don’t have a reviews for them. Mercury Striking is the 1st book in her most recent series. You can see my review for that one here. Fated  is the 1st book in the Dark Protectors series. In my opinion, it is the weakest book of the series, BUT Dark Protectors is my favorite adult paranormal romance series of all time. If you read Fated, and enjoy it enough to keep going, then you will be blown away with how each book weaves together. The last book in the series, Marked, has over 2900 reviews on GoodReads and still maintains a 4.5 Star average. That is incredible. Forgotten Sins and Mercury Striking are both on sale for $1.99. Fated is on sale for $2.99.

Meeting the Unpredictable by Riann C. Miller

4 Stars

Meeting the Unpredictable is the 2nd book I’ve read by Riann C. Miller. She’s an author that’s new to me this year and someone I’m keeping an eye on.

THE BLURB

What happens when opposites attract?

Tyler has spent the last six years constructing his perfectly boring life, which is exactly the way he wants it. He spends his days hiding behind the protective walls he has so carefully built and has no intentions of changing . . . until he meets the unpredictable.

Lennie Jacobs is an intoxicating mess. She never stays anywhere long enough to form a solid relationship with anyone, including her family, because she has taught her fragile heart that love isn’t an option.

What started as a way to pass the time soon blossoms into something neither expected.

He was never meant to be permanent.

She can’t promise forever.

But, when life and love are on the line, everything changes.

Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I expected to love Lennie right away, but surprisingly that wasn’t the case. I’m usually a fan of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl (I know. Hate me.) But she was a little over the top at the beginning, even for me. Fast forward to the end of chapter 4… and I was sucked in by her crazy-yet-lovable antics.

You know throughout the book that both Lennie and Tyler have secrets, and I wracked my brain trying to figure out what was going on with Lennie specifically. Most of my guesses were completely wrong until near the end. I really enjoy when I’m surprised by the direction a book takes and this one was no exception.

Tyler was awesome. He’s a serious, business owner that works hard but never really cuts loose. You know he’s had some type of trauma in his life, but you don’t find out what till further on in the book. I loved Tyler. I think Lennie annoyed him even more than she annoyed me at the beginning, but the way he completely embraced her (and her quirks) once he realized what he had with her was swoon-worthy.

After both reading and loving 2 books that Riann C. Miller has written, I think it’s safe to say that I’m becoming a fan. I can’t wait to see what comes our way next.

Meeting the Unpredictable releases September 29, 2016.
