Hard Rules by Lisa Renee Jones (Dirty Money)

5 STARS

I think it’s safe to say, that I’ve officially become a fan of Lisa Renee Jones. This is the 1st book in a new series that left me wanting more. Definite CLIFFHANGER alert.

Shane is a lawyer that left a successful career in New York to get his family’s business out of the hot water it had landed in. While there he realizes that his father and brother are just going to keep dragging the company under with lies and corruption. He’s determined to take control of the company and make it into a legitimate business again, but to do so he might have to play dirty.

Emily is new to Denver and has a secret that makes her and anyone around her vulnerable. She’s a smart, tough girl that knows how to handle herself…but can she handle her attraction to Shane?

As if he was waiting for my total submission, he tears his mouth from mine, denying me his kiss, and I’m left panting. “That was an appetizer,” he declares, his voice a low, sultry rasp. “And you were right. Alone is better, which is exactly how I planned to spend this night. Until I saw you and alone wasn’t better anymore. And now I know why. You want what I want.”

“Which is what?”

“No complications.”

This is just one of those books that hooks you from the beginning and keeps reeling you in. I kept trying to figure out who “Emily” was, and who in Shane’s family/network could really be trusted. It seems like everyone has ulterior motives and nobody is who they seem to be. A+ romance and suspense.

The only drawback to this book, is that it’s a cliffhanger and I really don’t want to wait until February when Damage Control the 2nd book in the Dirty Money series is released.

Hard Rules is being released next week on August 9th 2016.
